Where is the Trackbase data stored?
The tb.db file contains all your Trackbase data, with the exception of some configuration information. If you wish to manually move/copy this data, it is essential you know which one you are using.
By default this file is located in c:\tbpro for Trackbase Pro, c:\tblite for Trackbase Lite and c:\tbii for older installations. The location can be determined in a number of ways. Each is detailed below.
Using Trackbase diagnostic tool
Trackbase is now shipped with a diagnostic tool. This is started by clicking Start --> (All) Programs --> Trackbase --> System Information.
The location of the database file, tb.db is detailed here. If this tool has the comment "Registry Information: DUPLICATE ENTRIES", then the location of the file will be the HKEY_CURRENT_USER entry and not the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Look at sybase engine
When Trackbase is opened, an additional application appears on the taskbar called 'tb'. This is minimised by default. If you click on this application, a "Sybase SQL Anywhere" window will open. The last entry, will read something like "Database c:\tbpro\tb.db started", the location of the current tb.db file. After determining the location you must minimise this window, rather than click "Shutdown", otherwise the behaviour of Trackbase will be seriously affected.
Using registry editor
The location of the tb.db file is stored in the windows registry within 'DatabaseFile' of a key called 'tb'. Trackbase will first look in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBC.INI for this key. If this does not exist it will look in HKEY_CURRENT_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBC.INI.
Click Start, Run and type 'regedit' to access the registy. Do not make changes to entries here unless you are sure of the impact.
